Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Chan as an orthodontist. Unfortunately, I found him to lack empathy in his approach. (Metal Braces) Once you sign the braces contract, you are not allowed to ask questions or provide any feedback. If you raise concerns—such as feeling a tooth bending—he may dismiss them outright, sometimes even raising his voice. In my case, I was initially told the issue didn’t exist, only for an oral therapist months later to confirm that it did, though I was then informed it wasn’t their responsibility and couldn’t be fixed. Throughout my treatment, he frequently raised his voice at me and even acted in an intimidating manner, simply because I asked questions or inquired about alternative approaches to achieve my desired outcome. Much of the confusion stemmed from his lack of clear communication. His adjustment appointments are extremely brief, often under six minutes, as he prioritizes seeing as many patients as possible. The timing of these appointments is based on his availability rather than the actual progress of your teeth. Additionally, he repeatedly threatened to cancel my contract, offering only a partial refund if I wanted to transfer my case elsewhere. The entire experience caused me significant anxiety, and on multiple occasions, I was in tears while he continued working on my teeth. Rather than showing concern, he made dismissive comments, boasting about his experience and claiming he could do whatever he wanted. I found his behavior unprofessional, and his staff seemed hesitant to intervene, possibly out of fear of jeopardizing their own jobs. In my opinion, he would benefit from anger management training. Eventually, I formally submitted my questions via email, and his response was to abruptly terminate my treatment. He refused to even assess the latest adjustment he had made, despite it having a noticeable impact on my teeth and bite. Overall, this was an extremely distressing experience, and I would not recommend his services.
