Monash Children's Hospital: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Best staff ever!!!!
Positive experience: very supportive staff
Negative experience: **Absolutely the Worst Experience at a Children's Emergency Hospital – Would Give Zero Stars If Possible** We rushed our toddler to this emergency hospital after a serious fall at daycare. She was bleeding from her head and face, clearly in distress. Instead of compassion, we were met with sheer rudeness and a complete lack of empathy from the very first point of contact — a young woman at the reception (aged between 20-25, named *Tessa*). While I was trying to explain what had happened, I briefly lifted my child to show the visible bleeding. Tessa snapped at me rudely, saying, *“Leave her down, you don’t have to keep showing her to me.”* I knew my child would run if I put her down, but because of her aggressive tone, I did — and had to chase her down immediately after. When I returned, Tessa handed me the hospital band and told me she couldn’t put it on my child because she had chocolate on one hand and sleeves on the other — as if lifting a sleeve would take more than two seconds. She was cold, impatient, and completely dismissive the entire time. Absolutely no regard for a parent in panic or a child who was visibly injured. After that unpleasant interaction, a different nurse did the triage — thankfully more professional — but what followed was just as disturbing: **we waited four hours before a doctor even came to see our child**, who had sustained an injury to her head and near her eye. Four hours of waiting in pain and worry, with no updates, no urgency, and zero accountability. I tried to raise a complaint about Tessa to the nurses inside. At first, they refused to tell me her name — only after insisting and explaining what had happened did they finally give me just her first name, claiming they *"couldn’t give her last name."* The entire experience felt like a cover-up — as if we were being punished for complaining, or deprioritized because we dared speak up. Absolutely disgraceful. To the hospital management and staff: I genuinely hope none of your own children or grandchildren have to experience the kind of neglect, indifference, and emotional distress that we went through at your facility. Maybe then you would understand why people leave reviews like this. **You are entrusted with children’s lives. Start acting like it.**
Fantastic experience: We recently had surgery for my two-year-old (upper lip repair), and I just want to express our deepest gratitude. From admission to discharge, every single member of the team, nurses, volunteers, anaesthetists, plastic surgeons, and everyone in between, was so lovely, caring, and considerate. Thank you for looking after my little boy and me with such compassion and professionalism. You are all truly amazing!
Negative experience: Terrible wait times in the paediatric specialist clinic! Got seen after nearly 2 hr wait, doctors went home for the day. Upon inquiring a couple of times got told by the receptionist that this is not a gp! Everyone else was seen, all patients left and we got our turn at 5:20pm instead of 3:50. There is no continuity of doctors. Everytime a brand new one sees us. This time no one even checked weight n height before reviewing the medication which depends on it.
Negative experience: Worst experience ever, had a skin graft in between my toes and I put saline solution on the mold for 4 days, started to heal, but we went to the doctor the next day, she said it was perfect but we could clearly see bleeding, doctors said I could walk but 5 hours later it started bleeding so it ruined 4 days of work, it didn’t hurt before now it’s hurting so much, go to royal children hospital instead, do not come here, if I could leave 0 stars I would, dr Mc stuffens could do a better job
Fantastic experience: The staff here are absolutely beautiful people,my son couldn't speak highly enough of all of them and I'm exactly the same, there is so much for the kids to do and keep them entertained it's just a credit to the hospital as a whole,I don't know what els to say other than thank you so much for making my little man and his brother feel really special for the time spent in hospital they will never forget there stay
Fantastic experience: Fir more kids entertainment go on level 4 heaps of kids entertainment... Art ,crafts, videos game, chestboard and so many more.. even movies , cinema.
Fantastic experience: Dear Respected Doctors and Nurses, My name is Adnan Ali Bahrami, and I was born on May 28, 2025. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of you who were involved in my care. Your support and kindness have truly made a significant difference in my life. My parents and I are incredibly thankful for your help; we can't express our gratitude enough. You all are more than just doctors and nurses to us; you are like angels who have guided us through a challenging time. Thank you, and may God bless you all. Warmest regards, Adnan Ali Bahrami
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately have been here more than we’d like. One visit with a specialist a few months back and a 7 night stay recently. Could not fault the staff, facilities and service. Nothing is ever going to be done as fast you want as a worried parent of a sick child, but everyone we came across was doing an excellent job.
Fantastic experience: Took my 8 year old with severe stomach aches, the nurses and doctors saw us quickly and got to the bottom of the problem. They made us feel supported and safe. Their professionalism and care was amazing. We cannot thank you enough
Fantastic experience: I stayed for a few days it did take a while for the tests but understandable they are very busy. The surgery team are so sweet and do such an amazing job. The nurses are also really nice they get very busy so you do need to be patient tho.
Fantastic experience: It is convenient to enter Monash Children's Hospital through the entrance shown in the picture. There is a parking lot right next to the hospital entrance, and the parking fees are as shown in the picture.
Fantastic experience: LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE, I stayed in this hospital for 6-9 months at least and let me tell you it was the best experience ever, the rooms were so colourful you had a perfect view, everything was nice, the nurses and staff was very very very very kind, they always manage to smile at me, 24/7 they would be gentle with me and I felt so happy, best hospital ever in my opinion.
Negative experience: Terrible experience. They clearly don't care about your child’s well-being. We waited over 3 hours just to have our baby—who had a high fever—barely checked and handed some Panadol. No urgency, no empathy, and no real medical attention. It felt like they were just wasting time, watching the clock, and waiting for us to leave. Completely unacceptable when dealing with sick children. Avoid if you actually want your child to be cared for seriously.
Fantastic experience: I came here for the first time with my 3 year old who had an accident and required sutures. Our local private hospital doesn’t do paediatric trauma and recommended we go to Monash . It was a great experience. Waited about 1.5 hours to see a doctor for treatment, totally worth it. The treatment room was wonderful and had a huge a TV with calming shows for my son to watch. Dr Slaa and children’s therapist Megan were amazing. My son felt so at ease and calm. He almost fell asleep during treatment. Thanks to their expertise and calming nature my son was able to have facial sutures with just local anaesthetic, no sedation necessary. Couldn’t have hoped for a better outcome for my little boy.
Fantastic experience: All team members were so incredibly kind and supportive in what was a very stressful and difficult time.
Negative experience: Judith Thompson was horrible we have absolutely no idea how she has a job still. She was rude and very weird with our child while she was in the hospitals care. She than found me on Facebook and took screen shots of my daughter and messaged me non stop saying she’s watching us and sending me pictures of my daughter. I filed a report as well with the police and hospital administration so I figured any other family that may end up using this place to be aware of the employee they have there
Fantastic experience: Staff were amazing, really busy evening but the communication was excellent, their care and compassion next level, seen within a reasonable timeframe and follow up supports put in place, even a visit from the clown doctors, a bed, cuppa, toothbrush, phone charging available for the accompanying parent. Thank you
Fantastic experience: Due to my son being unwell, we went to the Monash Children's hospital. The doctors (particularly Dr. Anand), and the nurses were very caring and went out of they're way to help my son who is super scared of needles.
Negative experience: Emailed Monash Children’s on February 22nd regarding a serious complaint. The hospital has continued to ignore us since this date, with absolutely no communication every single time we have contacted them. Absolutely horrified at what unfolded during our visit and how they have been silent when we have continued to try get a response.
Fantastic experience: Absolute world class healthcare. I could not fault the brilliant doctors and nurses who have worked tirelessly for my child on two occasions where we have now been admitted for care. Amazing attention to his needs, symptoms, regular monitoring and support and also listening to my concerns. Thankyou for all the care you have shown us.
Negative experience: Horrible horrible my 3 year old has had unexplained abdominal pain and we have presented ino emergency twice without any investigation at all. They just keep passing it back onto the GP, appalling. He has loss of appetite, barely eating, in alot of pain, huge behavioural changes, screaming and hitting his abdomen where it hurts and we've come in twice for nothing to be done. My pets would have had better medical care at the vets is no wonder kiddos have missed diagnosis some with fatal outcomes. Terrible system here with such reluctance to investigate children.
Fantastic experience: Our experience made me very grateful for doctors and nurses and all the staff that makes urgent medical care possible. Everyone we dealt with was exceptionally professional, caring and kind. We were very well taken care of and were lucky to require their services in a not so busy period.
Negative experience: Worst experience with my 6 year old at the ED. We waited for 30+ hours to have a scan done to her brain. Was told more than 3 times by the doctor to go home because it was a “virus”. We waited overnight for more than 10 hours for a migraine medicine that never arrived. Terrifying experience. She ended up having a thrombosis on her brain. I understand people make mistakes but this is beyond that point.
Fantastic experience: We've had 2 visits with our youngest child, both times all the Staff have been exceptional with their care and humanity - we are very lucky having MCH nearby. Thank you to all the Staff there!
Fantastic experience: Having moved to Melbourne from the UK 2 years ago we were incredibly impressed with the level of care and service at Monash Children’s Hospital. Our daughter was seen and admitted into the Children’s ED within 40 minutes, and the team quickly performed thorough tests and X-rays before admitting her to a ward. Every single staff member we encountered was caring, helpful, and made sure we understood exactly what was happening at all times. The attention to detail was remarkable, right down to the clown in the ED, who helped cheer up the kids. A special mention to Daisy and Monica in the Children’s ED, who were exceptionally patient and kind – they are incredible paediatric nurses. Once admitted to the ward (3A - Forest Ward), we were blown away by the facilities. Our daughter had her own room with en suite facilities, and there was a proper bed for me to stay overnight – a feature that made such a difference. The room was thoughtfully designed for young children and their parents. Everything was spotless, and the parents’ lounge with free tea and coffee was such a thoughtful touch. Even though our daughter was quite unwell, we felt completely at ease and well cared for throughout. Coming from the UK, where overcrowding can mean children are stuck on trolleys in corridors, it’s clear how fortunate Australians are to have such amazing facilities and dedicated staff. Our daughter spent three days on the ward and now has a team of specialists looking after her. She’s also been set up with the Hospital in the Home program, which is absolutely fantastic. Nurses come to our house to monitor and administer medication until her procedure next week – a huge comfort. We want to highlight Olivia and Ash, two incredible paediatric nurses. Ash, in particular, made a significant difference for our daughter. After several difficult and traumatic experiences with blood draws, Ash took the time to build trust and create the right conditions for a calm and positive experience. Thanks to her patience and care, our daughter left the hospital with a much more positive association, and Ash even gave her a craft set as a reward. We are beyond thankful for everyone at Monash Children’s Hospital. Although we’re not out of the woods yet, we feel reassured knowing our daughter is in the best hands. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: He probably won't see this, but I had to get transferred to the childrens emergency dept with my three month old baby yesterday. There is a student nurse there called Sam, who played with my baby, made him smile, checked in on us and even managed to get a discharge delay sorted out for us after we were waiting over an hour. My husband and toddler came to get us and he even gave my toddlers bunny a check up. He gave our scary time at the hospital some happy memories. Thanks Sam, you're an exceptional nurse already, student or no.
Negative experience: Had a neurosurgeon appt at 2:30pm at the children’s hospital in Clayton, arrived at the appt at 2:10pm waited there until 3:30pm watched new people walk in and got called meanwhile my daughter is only 4 months she’s crying I only got 1 bottle for her. I went to the receptionist to tell her I’ve been here since 2:30pm meanwhile it’s 4pm right now, she asked me my details and checked my papers in the tray and said I was next to be called, I went and sat down for another 30 minutes so it’s 4:37pm right now I’ve been here for 2 hours. I got so mad I walked up to the second reception and told her I’ve been here since 2:30pm she was really nice and went to go see what was happening, she goes to the other reception desk and comes back to me that my papers that was in the tray was not in there which is why you didn’t get called and that she doesn’t know why it wasn’t in there, she was very problematic but I was getting so mad because when I went up at 4pm the first reception desk had my papers and checked and said I was next, long story after that Second Lady at the reception found what happened I was called next.. all I can say is..these doctors are the people that took me to court for not showing up to one appt and they do this to me all the time, I’ve never been to one appt where it was on time I always had to wait 1-2 hours which is why I have to go home. Stuff you Monash children’s so useless
Fantastic experience: Beautiful team of doctors, friendly, quiet and well managed emergency area for children.
Fantastic experience: Noticing most of the bad reviews are people who aren't familiar with Australia and expect there to be 1000 doctors in a line waiting to treat people and 1000000 nurses running around doing the gospels work. this hospital is fantastic and the staff try their best with everyone and are completely fair. Will there be mistakes made? Yes, people are learning new things every day and we as a race know that pain is knowledge. They deliver so many premature babies with success rates higher than most of the nationals average. They are spread thin just taking care of themselves let alone the thousands of people and babies that are knocking on deaths door. But, you weirdos; Your kid jammed his finger in his zipper, why does he deserve to be seen more intently than the lady who came in 10 minutes prior with a broken neck and a baby in her gut? Its just a perspective thing isn’t it. Also another one; “getting put at the back of the queue” is what you’re supposed to do when you enter a queue. I can assure you that the medical staff knows how to take a temperature better than a pedantic mother. If we are pedantic about every little thing and take our kids to the ER every time the ER will have no room left for people who actually need it. I don't understand why but, people have a negative experience based on their bizarre fantasy values and proceed to leave a bad review. So really, sincerely, from the regular people committee leadership itself, please touch grass.
Positive experience: This children's hospital NEED to provide children's toilet seat for all toilets in the Monash Children's hospital. Why? Because our son is 4 year old and he couldn't sit on the normal toilet seat as he almost fell in in when he had diarohea at that hospital. We had to hold him so he can go number 2 whilst being scared of falling in the toilet. We asked the staff to provide us a children's toilet seat but none children's toilet seat are available on site. This is poor service for childrens hospital toilet service. They MUST provide this toilet seat for all kids.
Negative experience: Don't waste your time with the Paediatric Orthopaedic Unit at Monash Children's Hospital. The staff are very nice but they are not very competent. The team take a stock standard approach with every baby - place baby in a Pavlik Harness for 23 hours a day for 12 weeks and hope for the best. A Pavlik Harness is the cheapest option for patients but it is not necessarily the best option for all babies, especially after bub is over 4 months. The team at Monash Children's Hospital assume that parents are not willing to pay for the appropriate harness and would prefer to go with the cheapest option. Our baby wasted 10 weeks in the Pavlik Harness when she should have been in a more rigid brace. Their model of care is not very good either as there is no option for patients to get in contact with the team if required. Don't waste your time - just go private. It will cost a bit more but it means that your baby/child will be treated properly, effectively and efficiently.
Negative experience: We came with 9 months toddler with high temperature. No one care about baby. Sitting and waiting for 4 hours just gave to toddler panadol. Doctor didn't show face. Didn't even come and ask about a baby's health. I Dont understand how worse medical system in Australia. Where do we need to go for medical treatment. I can understand if it's an adult. But don't care about baby's health it's ridiculous. Worth hospital ever. Why they named Children hospital if they don't care about kids. Shame on Australian health system.
Negative experience: God help us wait time are very lone come 20 min before appointment and still waiting more then 2 and haft hours still doctor didn't show up poor my kid is starving and thirsty they have to wait ,.
Positive experience: The hospital is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. However, there is a need for improved signage at the front entrance roundabout car park. A sign that clearly states "Drop-off and Pick-up Only" would be beneficial in communicating the purpose of this area to visitors. This is a common practice in many other hospitals and would help to ensure that the area is used as intended.
Fantastic experience: Can not fault this hospital at all. After months and months of being on the waitlist at The Royal Childrens without even an appointment for cat 2 surgery) I emailed the referral to Monash, heard back about an appointment withing two weeks and was done roughly 2 months or so later. Exceptional time frame and am so very grateful for this hospital.
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately, my daughter had to visit the Emergency Department today to check on her symptoms. She didn’t need urgent medical assistance and actually looked better upon our arrival. The staff at the pediatric emergency today were so lovely, caring, and informative. The wait time was reasonable. The nurses and doctors were professional and genuinely cared about each and every patient, which was very reassuring. I was especially grateful for the presence of an amazing volunteer at the ED today, who soothed my baby by rocking her and even offered me coffee. The whole experience made my day a lot better, and I’m so grateful to have access to such a high-standard ED. Thank you, team.
Fantastic experience: My daughter was on the waitlist for dental surgery under priority 2 (to be seen within 90days) for approximately 4.5years through a combination of Royal Children's, Peninsula Health & Monash Hospital. During that time COVID crisis happened and Monash Children's Hospital was built. Finally & with a lot of advocacy; my daughter has had her surgery completed. The hospital was able to coordinate nasal & dental surgeries to limit the need for multiple procedures & aid in her medical specific anxieties. The anaesthetist "Joe" who was head of one of the units at Monash Children's was incredible in his handling and dealing with my daughter. While he initially seemed polite but very forward & rushed; when it came to professionalism & handling of my daughter directly he was beautiful in his methods. He integrated different sensory strategies to make the process easier. The Hospital used heated blankets, high scented lip balm on mask to cover gas smell, grounding visual prompting & positive meditation like practices. He was prepared for alternate strategies to assist to sedate and ensure the work that needed to he done would be with as little negative long-term impact as possible but these (for the 1st time) were not needed. Staff were prompt in handling children & helping them spend as little time as possible in an uncomfortable environment. Starlight foundation was at the hospital offering games, silliness & a sense of distraction to families. Administration staff were protective & vigilant of family dynamics and worked solely in the best intrest of child. The surgery required was much more than originally planned (which was discovered after sedation) but was handled in such a reassuring and gentle way that there instilled comfort in the entire family. We are extremely grateful for the care provide by Monash Children's & particularly to Joe for going above and beyond in his duties.
Negative experience: My husband took our 8 year old suffering with abdominal pain. Over 4 hours in ED waiting room and not seen by anyone other than being asked to pee in a cup in the first hour. No pain medication provided when asked. No vitals taken. By midnight they decided to leave, with hospital demanding a waiver be signed. Disgusting health system when your child is left to suffer.
Positive experience: 5 stars for Dr Kade Lynd, Paediatric ED reg.Thank you Dr Kade for your help.
Positive experience: My daughter had surgery here and it went well, the nurses were kind and attentive. However the doctor who came to do her hand catheter after the surgery (original one was pulled out accidentally) missed twice so she was unable to continue pain management that way. It turned out ok, but she wasn’t afraid of needles before that..
Fantastic experience: The nurses give you great care and the teams of doctors are the best
Negative experience: I just don’t understand why the doctors in this hospital spend most of their time in front of the computer rather than seeing and actual checking the patients.
Negative experience: God help you and your family if you need to come here. I pray you never have to. Be prepared to wait a long long time if you do decide to come. That’s if you’re able to wait that long, before you decide to leave and see a GP the next day instead. It’s so disappointing to see the level of health system we have here. Very sad.
Negative experience: Came here as a tourist from Singapore as my youngest had a bruised finger from jamming his finger into his bag zipper. I had the most horrendous experience at the emergency department. No wait times were published, instructions was not clear and further more, was scolded by the triage nurse Hanna for not registering correctly (in fact I did but was told to wait at the waiting area as the inside was full). I get that you’re understaffed at a night shift but I don’t need the ‘I-am-more-superior-than-you’ attitude. I have a sick child and being someone who does not understand Australia’s healthcare system, it would have been better if I had some clearer instructions. I ended up 12.5h at the ED and plastics came to just give my son a small poke in his skin to release the fluids at my insistence without writing my discharge summary.
Negative experience: Very disappointing. ER Nurse didnt let me finish my sentence, responded sarcastically and put my daughter in the back of the queue, haphazardly took my daughters temp (incorrectly) - thankfully someone else saw us in the Priority Care. Will go elsewhere next time.
Negative experience: Very disrespectful night shift security and stuffs. It was around 1 Am. I felt really bad so I went outside to get fresh air. When I was trying to comeback to my daughter I pressed the intercom the security asked me with very disrespectful, depressed and anxious tone like he was trying to hit me its not finishing here most of the doctors and nurses they don’t even count you as an human being specially when you require help or you ask them a question. The stuff is usually upset and depressed. If this job seems really hard and frustrating for you guys why you chose it in the first place. I give you guys a good advice! What ever you are doing in this world, do it with passion and dedication never let your issues come in the way. Speak with psychiatrist and fix your self before coming to work and ruin other peoples day and mood. We are already going through a lot and there is no space to deal with you guys.
Negative experience: Waited for over an hour and galf while my 4 year olds temperature exceeded 40 degrees. When I wwnt to leave, thwy woukdnt lwt me leave withoit signing a waiver! Their legal liability is far more important than the care of my 4 year olds excessive and dangerous temperature. We went to Holmsglen Private with no wait and were provided the immediate care we required. There are alternatives people.
Negative experience: Wait for 6 hours to do a blood test after vomit blood at home. Nurses and doctors tried 4 times and not completed. Hopeless area.
Fantastic experience: My 18 month old had plastic surgery on her finger today, and every touch point at the hospital was excellent, from the surgeon and the anaesthetist through to the nurses, the receptionist and the kind volunteers who help entertain the sick children, we were so grateful for everyone’s care. What a wonderful children’s hospital with incredible staff. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Monash Childrens Hospital in Clayton. My daughter had to have plastic surgery a few years back on a finger/nail. Today she had to have blood tests taken we had tried somewhere else and my daughter just screamed the place down. We took her to monash childrens Pathology and oh my God these ladies were extremely professional! polite! patient!. Angela and team we thank you so much! Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely professional teamwork with no hiccup in the entire process in handling the sudden surgical emergency of my son. Hats off, team !
Fantastic experience: I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses at Monash Children Hospital for their exceptional care and expertise in performing a successful operation on my son. Throughout the entire process, the doctors exhibited a level of professionalism and compassion that was truly remarkable. They took the time to listen to our concerns and address any questions we had, providing us with a sense of comfort and reassurance during what was undoubtedly a difficult time for our family. Their dedication and commitment to their profession have not only brought my son back on track, but also provided our family with a renewed sense of hope and gratitude. Their kindness and expertise have made a profound difference in our lives, and for that, we will be forever grateful and Thank you So Much. Much Love YUVIN AND Family
Fantastic experience: The team in the Aviary Ward are amazing, caring and responsive.
Fantastic experience: Nurses were wonderful, caring and patient.
Negative experience: Left for hours in waiting room with ZERO discussion with doctors to be told 3 hours later that we had been given paperwork and discharged already. No paperwork was given nor were there any discussions with anyone about discharge. They had forgotten about our son and clearly trying to make excuses as to why they left a 3 year old waiting for hours when we could have been sent home… or, they discharged the wrong family and someone else has our sons discharge info.
Fantastic experience: Doctors and nurses are nice. They are very polite and friendly and especially attentive towards babies. Bless them all
Fantastic experience: My little girl had to have plastic surgery after a split lip yesterday. All of the staff were so amazing! Very happy with everything
Positive experience: Meow meow meow
Negative experience: Bad. Screwed up my foot surgery and didn't tell me or care at all. Do not go. Made me wait ten hours with an open wound to get care. Sent me home with an open wound before surgery. Thats all.
Fantastic experience: My Son Was Admitted To Monash Children's Hospital We Just Arrived Home Yesterday & My Son Was Treated With Respect & Thx Hospital Staff Would Attend To My Sons Needs The Hospital Was So Beautiful & clean . We Didn't Have To Be Judged We Didn't Have To Wait We Had Such Well Mannered Highly Professional Staff . Before Being Admitted To The Monash Children's Hospital My Son & I were At Frankston Hospital At FRANKSTON HOSPITAL WAS A NIGHTMARE. I Was Judged For Falling Asleep there treatment at FRANKSTON HOSPITAL was revolting.i will never be going to Frankston hospital again. My son and I were treated at the Monash children's Hospital with respect the sleeping was beautiful and they get things done Fast without having to wait around the most beautiful staff such kind nurses nice and clean the most cleanest hospital IV ever seen and there was so many beautiful Halloween things for kids it was just a miracle that they looked after my son and made sure I was felt like I was someone and assisted me in a beautiful room with my son for confidential reasons but this hospital is Very highly recommended
Negative experience: The VFPMS service at this hospital is corrupt they did not contact my child’s GP l,listed my friends names with false allegations they never made and based majority of their assessment fully off Malicious word of mouth from my Narcissistic emotionally abusive mother.
Fantastic experience: My daughter has had EEGs, MRIs, and now just had surgery for a VNS to be inserted all done at this hospital. Her neurologists, epileptologists, surgeons, and all staff involved in her care have been absolutely amazing. My daughter has been so very well looked after by this hospital for the last few years. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my daughter like I trust this amazing hospital. I wish I could name all the fantastic people we have come across, but there are far too many to count. Positive experiences every single time we have been here. The love and care my daughter and myself have received here is something I will never forget. We come from a small area of gippsland, and have nothing down here, hence we were referred to Monash Children's. Even if we did have access to all this, I'd still be taking the trip to Monash Children's for her care. Thanks so much for everything you do for my daughter.
Fantastic experience: My 10 yr old daughter is a long-time patient at Monash Childrens orthopaedic clinic. I cannot stress enough how impressed I am each and everytime we go for procedures and check ups absolutely nothing happens without her consent, she is given time to ask her own questions, she is asked to say in her own words what the procedure is and why she is having it to show her understanding of her treatment for her hip dysplasia. The staff are all fantastic with her, we so are lucky to have such a fantastic facility available to the public!
Fantastic experience: They're all so amazing and helpful. They gave my kid excellent care while she was in the hospital. THANKS
Positive experience: This is the first time at this ED. We had a good experience and the wait was close to 4 hours been a Sunday.
Negative experience: Horrible place,My sister had to do lots of tests which is no problem. But we were told that it would take only 2 hours but instead we were there for 6!
Positive experience: After 3 weeks of seeing GP’s who did nothing to help my 4yr old daughter, the medical staff at Monash Children’s were amazing! Even during a busy period, she was triaged in emergency and seen by a clinician within 1 hour.
Negative experience: I took my child to the children's hospital for ultrasound . We were waiting in the waiting room play area,I had been sitting at the door, and the door was open. After waiting for two hours, no one called us. When I asked, they said they had already called us and we were not there. They also told us that the play area was not for waiting ??? So what is that play area for?? in the children hospital???
Fantastic experience: Nice clean place
Negative experience: Worst service at the reception ever, the lady could not have been more unhelpful. I came with our two year old and she directed us to the wrong building for the emergency department.
Fantastic experience: Such kind and supportive staff, all the way through emergency, surgerical and ward. Thank you! My family was in the very best hands!
Fantastic experience: Couldn’t not of been happier. In there for a week with daughter. 3 months hospital in hme. Nurses doctors specialists.fantastic.and after care . One ph call. A doctor will get back to me. Highly recommend.
Positive experience: Good service
Negative experience: Worst place to come and wait in emergency, Very poorly managed hospital. They think they are world's best, but they don't know outside world.
Negative experience: Terrible experience. Waiting about one hour and 20 minutes to get in even with having appointment. Not happy at all.
Fantastic experience: Great staff, very clean environment
Fantastic experience: We had a very pleasant experience with our sick baby thanks to the amazing team at Monash Children’s emergency. As first time parents and our first trip to emergency, our doctor was so understanding. The whole team were so thorough and kept us informed on the process and treatment the whole way through. The doctors and nurses at Monash really deserve so much credit for what they do and how they are so professional and make you feel important when they have such a busy schedule in ER. We never felt like we were rushed even though it was a busy night in there. Thanks for all you do.
Negative experience: I would give it -5 stars if I could. What a rotten hospital. I was spoken to rudely, they tried to intimidate me with 3 security guards backing up the boss. Bosses have no people skills. A really terrible hospital with incompetent workers and bosses. Highly not recommend.
Negative experience: Lady at the front desk this evening could be just a little more cheerful and friendly as it goes a long way , especially considering it’s a children’s hospital!
Fantastic experience: I cannot thank Monash Children's Hospital enough for the incredible care they provided to my newborn baby. My baby was admitted to NICU for 2.5 months and then spent another month in the Special Care Unit. The doctors and nurses were amazing, providing around-the-clock care and support to both my baby and our family. They saved my baby's life and I will be forever grateful. I highly recommend Monash Children's Hospital to any parent in need of exceptional medical care for their child.
Fantastic experience: Amazing nurses and doctors, my little one was there and I can’t find any faults they where brilliant and I’m forever grateful
Fantastic experience: Took my child on a long weekend Parking was easy enough although pretty expensive. The elevators were pretty dirty. The signage wasn’t overly clear outside as to where to go. I walked around to the children’s then had to walk back as the main emergency Dept apparently sees children and adults. Went to the emergency department. Everything was super quick and efficient. The staff were lovely and great with my child. Thanks so much!
Negative experience: The Gigil Cafe was terrible!!! Inflexible menu options, rude staff, and expensive. While my daughter was in surgery my wife and i popped down to grab a quick bite. We spent $40 in total. When I asked for a second fork to share the rice with my wife, I was told I would be charged for it.... really?!?! we clearly have bought enough food for 2 people, we are here together, we bought items which require a fork to eat!!! When we sat down to eat I finally understood why having a second fork was a waste of time... because the food was inedible anyway!!!!
Positive experience: Hospital is amazing, staff are friendly and supportive as well as knowledgeable. But why can the cafe staff not wear masks when all staff and visitors have to when entering the hospital?
Negative experience: My wife and very sick child waited 3 hours in emergency before anyone even checked on them once through triage. No communication and neglectful of a distressed mother and child who needed reassurance and help.
Negative experience: What a pathetic place, never take your kids there. My 8 year old is having high fever from past 1week and I have been told that yeah there is something wrong but what it is we don't know. Come back when she is getting worse then the current situation. Never ever go there. Doctors and nurses both are worst then any other place in the world.
Positive experience: We were at the Monash children's Hospital for my son surgery. The doctor and the nurse are amazing. They were always there to help and gave us all the information we needed. Thanks to all the nurse and Doctors.
Negative experience: Terrible service. Throughout every appointment my wife and I have had with our newborn, I've been told I've had to wait outside the hospital or in the cafe by the front of house. My wife then has to walk up the stairs with the baby and bags... really disgusting behaviour. Throughout pregnancy and two weeks into having a new son, which I am incredibly proud and happy about, I get shoved aside for 80% appointments. Dads are parents too!
Negative experience: The psych ward at this place is litterally the worst ive been too and ive been to 5 psych wards in the first 6 months of me turning 16, nurses don't care about you or the other teenagers in there, no access to any electronics at all, the food was so bad most of us litterally starved ourselves because it was better then eating the food and then we'd get sent up to the eating disorder unit so they could force us to eat because we wouldn't eat the food in the psych ward, litterally wouldn't even give it 1 star
Negative experience: Would give a 0 star if I could. We clearly had a distraught baby who was crying his lungs out the whole time and after 3/4 hours still nothing. Peninsula Frankston is much better for kids don’t go here.
Fantastic experience: We had an amazing experience!
Fantastic experience: The best nicu services I have witnessed. The nurses, doctors, midwives are professional and so caring. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: My 3.5yo went in for an MRI, we were in the play area where there was a toy MRI for the children to do MRI’s on chicken & robot. This made the hole experience so much better and my daughter was completely aware of what was going to happened it was her turn.
Fantastic experience: It is a great place for children where not just medical needs but also their emotional needs are met
Positive experience: Didn't have the correct medical equipment for children. Didn't seem to care to much for the patient
Fantastic experience: The Monash children’s team are phenomenal, they treated my little boy with such care and attention making him smile when it seemed impossible. The Drs and nurses are so informative and made me and my partner feel at ease! It’s just a big family in there I could not fault it. Thank you thank you thank you :)
Fantastic experience: Lovely staff that helped my 8 year old Thank you so much for all that you do ❤️
Negative experience: Spent 9 hours in total in emergency department holding my 6 month old baby girl who was very ill. I arrived and no one was waiting in emergency, yet every other person that arrived after us across the 9 hour period went in before us….not sure how they were all categorised as being more of a priority. After 6 hours I went to leave and was made a fool of by the lady at the front counter. I was disheveled, I’m tears, totally exhausted. I felt so guilty I walked back in. My husband showed up after 7 hours and spoke up and we were given attitude by triage nurse who ended up getting us a room and exclaimed with so much sarcasm - ‘there’s your room, because it was your turn and everything.’ Shocking experience, for an emergency next time, we’ll be going to a smaller hospital. They can then transfer us if we need the childrens.
