Negative experience: He is very unprofessional. His practice is very untidy and unhygienic. He has no dental nurse. He has no computerised recording..everything is done like 30 years ago, reports in manilla folders. I was told that he did a procedure which he actually did not perform and charged me an excessive amount of money. I was charged 700 dollars in consulting fees for a 20 minute procedure which was 2 tooth x-rays and 1 filling Please beware before you go to him.

I have very bad wisdom tooth pain since Thursday 25th January went to my regular dentist that is my only dentist that I've been with since 19 years old on Saturday and they told me couldn't get it out until April as they were busy. My colleague was shocked and asked her husband to help and he advised of Dr Shin. I looked him up and he was still working late up to 12 at night and he answered my call, I didn't think I would be able to see him that quickly. Today he checked wisdom tooth and has booked me in Tuesday 6th Feb to have wisdom tooth extraction. Had excruciating pain for days, went to Royal north shore for 12 hours Ct scans and many tests and couldn’t find problem as my whole face and head felt like hammers hitting it for days I was about to die from the pain and I called up as I saw he had over 240 reviews and 5 star! It was Sunday and lunchtime , I thought no chance ! But was soo much pain I had to try ! he picked up the phone and said he and his son are late to a dental convention which never comes to sydney, but heard how much pain I was in and said he will drive to the surgery and see me so to come in and he will see if he can help. We went in, he started everything up, and immediately starting testing my whole mouth tooth by tooth until he found a few back ones it could be He went through more tests to see what it was , recommended a root canal and I was instantly struck with fear, I wanted to run out, I heard about the stories how painful it would be. He reassured me , gave a local and did it so quick I was at the end thinking he was joking it was all done. It was simply the most amazing experience and pain gone! I cried I was that elated the pain went. I will now go to him and recommend if u in pain or not happy with your dentist, this is the guy! At the end I was expecting a crazy bill and would happily pay it regardless, it was well below anyone else’s quote by heaps for a root canal. So best , Pain free and cheapest. No other options just see this guy you won’t regret it! I barely leave reviews but have to as I hope this helps others as I was !

I had sensitive teeth and after he did my fillings, I can now chew ice cream- PAIN FREE! He also removed stains from my teeth which previous dentists say they werent able to remove. Fantastic experience: Dr Shin is a skilled dental surgeon. He was able to extract all four of my wisdom teeth that other dentists turned away due to complexity without any complications. The surgery itself was rather unpleasant (unfortunately unavoidable under local anaesthetic) but thankfully brief due to the skills of Dr Shin. Recovery was smooth, no infections or any damage to the nerves. All this was done without me having to pay a cent despite the surgery costing going over the allowance of my medicare health voucher.

I went to Dr Shin after reading he’s great reviews and I can confirm he Realy is excellent, iv been to a lot of dentist over the years n some were good n bad but dr Shin would be the best dentist iv been too, he’s very caring n gentle plus very quick too, I was in n out within 20 mins n had a tooth extracted which I didn’t even feel n than he put a filling in a tooth that I wasn’t even expecting him to do but he did to further help me out. Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Dr Shin, I went to see him after two failed attempts with another dentist of root canal trying to save my tooth, he quickly determined that the tooth was not able to be saved and needed to be removed , he removed the tooth on the spot, relatively pain free, he is a master at his craft, it was a very difficult extraction due to a wisdom tooth that was pressing hard against the roots, he managed to extract to tooth successfully without the need of having to have an operation, i then later returned to see him a week later to remove another wisdom tooth that has annoyed me for over 10 years. Highly recommended!!

Fantastic experience: Where do I begin… Started off with an emergency tooth extraction at 9.30pm on a Sunday night. Dr James took my phone call and could hear how much pain I was in and was happy to drive to the clinic and extract 2 teeth that were on a pain scale of a million out of ten. Since then he’s done 2 root canals that we’re completely painless and whitened a tooth I thought was completely gone from saving (it was literally purple and now it’s white). I live an hour and 10 mins away and will only recommend and see Dr James in Ashfield ever. If you need a dentist, divine dental care is legit life changing!!

The root canal was paid using a government dental hospital voucher. I found Dr Shin to be very caring and gentle: telling me what he was doing at each stage of the root canal. He said to me that I had a few chipped fillings and that he would fix them at no cost to me. His service was finished yesterday along with the repairs. I had a wisdom tooth removed from a other dentist and after 7 days my surgical area started bleeding and my regular dentist was off on Saturday. Fantastic experience: Dr James removed an awful tooth for me that was causing me a lot of pain. I am a very nervous person when it comes to going to the dentist and so I had been avoiding it for a very long time, until it became unbearable. James and his staff made me feel very at ease and I didn't feel like I was being judged for my anxiety about the dentist.

Actually I went to the dentist I had been attending for nearly 10 years before going to Dr.Shin, but they only gave me antibiotic prescription and referral to go to Endodontic.But at that time, I was already suffering from toothache and couldn't wait for my reservation in May to meet Endodontic. But Dr. Shin treated me based on his know-how and experience, and I was able to get out of pain. He maintains strong ethics. He is persistent on the best treatment possible regardless of how adamant his patients can be. Patients are usually worried about change due to the psychology of inertia. As such, they may be insistent on having the same dental treatments as they usually do. James will make sure that his patients get the right treatment. He will not give in regardless of how persistent his patients are in wanting a different treatment that the patients think are right but he thinks is wrong. He will only give you the treatment that he thinks is right. He is a very kind-hearted doctor who may seem like he is adamant sometimes because he is persistent on his treatment but in reality he is highly talented and unlike most dentists, is truly a remarkable ethical doctor with high integrity. Most dentists want to make money but this dentist wants to help patients. Most dentists can’t reach five stars on Google review due to at least one or two failed treatments. This dentist has five stars due to continuous success in dental treatments and the confidence that people will give 5 stars eventually due to the perfect treatment. Professionalism derives from the ability to go above and beyond the scope of the job. James is truly the top dentist in Sydney.
