Primary Dental Highett

Negative experience: WARNING Do not visit this Dental Surgery. Dr Anjana Ramroop was going to pull my Wisdom Tooth out to access early decay in the adjoining tooth so as not lose both teeth over time. The problem was that the adjoining tooth did not have enough supporting bone structure so it needed to be removed anyway (Not wisdom tooth). The clinics 2D X-ray machine does not pick up bone structure so as a result was going to remove a perfectly good wisdom tooth. I went to a different surgery which has a standard 3D x-ray machine that shows much more detail compared to an obsolete 2D X-ray machine which Primary dental uses. People are being diagnosed incorrectly and getting the wrong teeth pulled out because of this! I also had another tooth which caused me pain and was told to take pain medication! The 3D X-ray at the other surgery showed degenerative bone structure along with a cyst the cause of the pain. The de-scale and polish I received at Primary dental was substandard! This was confirmed by the other dentist who showed me using an intraoral camera which shows real-time view of my teeth and the dentist even took the trouble to clean one tooth and compare it to my other teeth live on the monitor in front of me while in the chair. Please don't go to Primary Dental they make out like their professional but they're not. Janice

Negative experience: I’ve always heard great things about Primary Dental, but my recent experience at this location in Highett was disappointing. The receptionist, Mahawish (I think that’s her name), was incredibly rude. There was no greeting or acknowledgment when we walked in, and when our appointment was delayed, she didn’t bother to update us or apologize. It’s concerning to see this level of service from a reputable dental chain. A few months ago, I visited with my sister, and she was actually yelling at one of the staff members, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. Sadly, last week, during another visit with my sister, we experienced the same unprofessional attitude toward patients. This is not the level of service we expect, especially from a well-established chain like Primary Dental. I hope the management addresses this issue, as it’s definitely affecting the clinic’s reputation.

Negative experience: I felt ripped off after booking an appointment advertised at $199 then being charged $350 for a poorly done teeth clean. I can see they haven't done the job properly and they only took around five minutes to complete. I will never return to this business. What a Sham!

Negative experience: Would rate less if I could. Booked as a Bupa 1st service as we pay a premium for insurance….had to pay full price here - why? - this practice didn’t register their dentist as a BUPA provider until the day AFTER our service. Then took me MANY MANY calls, emails and follow-ups to get the money back…such a slog of effort for their mistake! No apologies from them, absolute terrible service on their behalf. One of the worst experiences I have had ever in Australia.

Negative experience: I booked an appointment here on a Saturday at 2pm. At about 11.40 I received a call asking me whether I could change my appointment time to 12pm. I explained that I couldn’t change at such short notice and they offered an alternative appointment at 1.15. When I arrived for the appointment they told me they couldn’t see me due to an “internet outage”. A dismal, unprofessional practice that I would definitely not recommend.

Negative experience: Worst experience ever! The receptionist was not helpful at all. I was charged for wrong amount, almost $200 more than the amount . And the receptionist denied to check again when I question it, very bad attitude. They treat client like a cash cow. Charge whatever they want. I have to ask my health insurance to contact them. And have not received the refund yet. Just so ridiculous!

Negative experience: Dr Marianna Habil worst dentist ever, so rude doesn't care about her patients needs. Don't recommend it!!!

Fantastic experience: Lovely dentist, very professional and I felt very relaxed while there.

Negative experience: The dentist was thorough and punctual, and that is the only positive part of my experience. The admin and receptionists were almost always unhelpful. Be prepared to wait upwards of a month for a referral to come through even while chasing it up every few days. I was told I will receive a phone call, an email, and that I could grab my referral in person.. Another patient's referral was sent to me AND handed to me physically, which I assume is a huge breach of patient privacy. I will not be back, but if you have months to spare before receiving paperwork, I highly recommend it.

Negative experience: I felt more like a cash cow than a valued client at this practice. Before even looking at my teeth, the dentist I saw wanted to book in a follow-up appointment. She then proceeded to tell me that I needed fissure sealants on all of my molars and pre-molars. I consulted two separate dentist friends who both said it seemed like the dentist at this clinic was just trying to take advantage of me. I also received a text message after 4 months saying I'm due for another check-up. It seems like this clinic is just trying to squeeze every cent from their customers/health insurance providers.

Negative experience: BEWARE OF UPSELLING Went for my biannual checkup and clean that is FREE with my insurance company. Was immediately pressured into xrays and jaw scan, kept asking how much was it going to cost 'free today' or ignored me Left with a bill of $168! After protests they reduced to $26 Have complained to insurance company to stop it and investigate BTW Not a thorough checkup and clean VERY perfunctory and sloppy. Primary dental MOORABBIN check,floss,clean and flouride EACH TOOTH, Patients at Primary Highett are cash cows and for high,quick turnover to maximize dentist's profits and income

Negative experience: Had a wonderful experience with Dr. Ramroop 3 weeks ago. Regretfully however, I had to cancel on 2 consecutive occasions because of illness, the later being for Asthma (probable long COVID) and currently treated with steroids at Primary Medical in the same building. Today I cancelled my dental 24 + hours before tomorrow's appointment as I did on one other occasion. I was now advised that I may be charged as this is the 2nd cancellation without much notice this being in excess of 24 hours. I explained my circumstances only to be advised that they can deal with conditions like mine. Ironically, I find it difficult to get a face to face consultation with my GP in the same building if I inform them that I have a cold, cough etc. I also advised that being on steroids my immunity is compromised and do not wish to be in a position where I am in an area where the probability of transmission may be present. I informed the dental receptionist to charge me the cancellation fee and that I don't wish to be part of their clinic again. There are many far more understanding medical personnel out there looking for jobs and perhaps the one that took my call today may be better advised of taking time off and self reflecting. I understand that we have all been under pressure and furthermore the health sector that I am also involved with. A little understanding and common sense is however paramount. Be mindful, there are many wonderful medical receptionists/personnel looking for their old jobs! I have now made an appointment with East Bentleigh Dental Group and was advised that I should feel better before attending my appointment. I have not informed of my encounter with Primary Dental Highett.

Positive experience: My experience to see Dr. Anjana is always a treat. She looks after you and makes you feel very safe and comfortable. My only suggestion was to fix the bathroom door. I witnessed a man enter into a bathroom which I believe was a disabled toilet and hear he entered on a woman using the toilet. The situation was quite loud with the man swearing and the lady alerting him it did not lock. The centre may need to have this fixed to diffuse this situation.
