Fantastic experience: I cannot thank Dr. Ramesh Sivabalan and the team at Smile Street, Coolangatta, enough for going above and beyond to help me! After three visits to my local doctor’s practice and multiple misdiagnoses, I was in excruciating pain with worsening swelling on one side of my face. I received conflicting diagnoses and ineffective treatments, with no improvement. During an unrelated follow-up appointment, my orthopedic surgeon, Dr. David Agolley, immediately recognised that something wasn’t right and took action. Thanks to an incredible network of professionals, I finally received the correct diagnosis and the right treatment—something that had been missed in previous consultations. The level of care, expertise, and dedication from everyone involved was truly outstanding. I am beyond grateful. If you’re looking for expert, compassionate care, this is the place to go!

Having said this, Smile Street Dental and everyone I’ve met there have been nothing less than absolutely fantastic. Everyone has gone out of their way to make me feel very welcome and put me at ease. I’ve been accommodated when I’ve had time constraints and the like. I’ve received timely reminders of appointments and for the first time ever, I’ve had follow up calls to see how I’ve felt after certain procedures/treatments. Amazing stuff!! Negative experience: Worst experience I have ever had, my last interaction with Dr Ramesh during my visit was so aggressive. I left in shock and crying. I have never had a bad experience at any dentist, the way I had here or even at this dentist previously. I was a recurring patient I have got previous cleans done by either Dr Ramesh or the other dentist at the Murwillumbah branch. This is my opinion as to my experience I had: My experience was quite sometime ago now, but I want to share how poor it was in the hope no one ever has to experience want I did. I booked in for a clean of my teeth and advised when I made the booking that I did have a crack or chip in my tooth. I saw Dr Ramesh and he inspected my teeth particularly the one that I thought I had a chip in. He advised that he does not believe it was broken or chipped and I was relived. He then finished up and sent me off to pay at the front desk. I queried why I didn't have a clean as that was what I was booked in for with the receptionist and she went to speak with Dr Ramesh. Then sometime ago, Dr Ramesh came out to the front desk. Ramesh was then abrupt with me. He at one point told me to look at him when he is speaking and that I would have to come back for a clean another time. He charged around 200-300 dollars for just the inspection of the tooth- I cannot recall if I did get x-rays too at the time, possibly. It appears that Dr Ramesh's aggression and frustration may be from the fact that the suspected chip in my tooth was not a chip therefore he couldn't take a larger sum of money from me and my health fund to fix that. Dr Ramesh told me I would not be welcome back after I queried why I didn't have a clean and proceeded to be abrupt with me. No patient should be talked to the way he did to me. After my terrible encounter with Dr Ramesh, the receptionist at the time which had just witnessed the full encounter with Dr Ramesh then said to be in a mocking way "have a nice day" as if she didn't just witness terrible customer service and treatment of a patient in front of her eyes. I did try to make a complaint to the Dental board, due to the sheer lack of professionalism and aggression I was shown by Dr Ramesh. As a professional myself, the encounter I had seriously concerned me.

Fantastic experience: Great for kids of all ages. Very kid friendly both in terms of the space (there’s a play area) and in terms of focus in the practice. Child can watch YouTube videos which reduces stress even during difficult procedures. Well designed and well organised practice. Clean and very modern too.

Negative experience: From a bedside manner, the dentist is rough and doesn’t tell the patient what he’s about to do before doing it, which is distressing for kids. On the day my son was to get his braces off, the dentist knew I was travelling an hour for the appointment. After every local red light and struggling to find a park, I was an anxious 10 minutes late. I was informed that the dentist had left right on our 11:30 appointment time to go to the airport. No, this wasn’t an emergency flight. Makes me wonder how he was going to remove the braces, clean my son’s teeth AND set a retainer with an imminent social flight. Would have rather he saved my time, petrol, day off work, my son’s day off school AND most importantly, my son’s disappointment and just rescheduled. Never going back. Too self centred here. Go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I had my first appointment yesterday. The team were lovely. I had the pleasure of meeting Jenna and she put me at ease straight away. The clinic was clean with modern equipment too. I’m new to the area and was concerned about finding my new dentist and I’m so glad I booked in at Smile Street. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: From the moment I got here, I waited 1 hour in the sitting room wasn’t told anything. I was told the consultation would be free. It wasn’t I had to pay for a scan and then to be frowned upon and told they can’t help. The dentist didn’t have any friendliness or welcoming instead it felt hostile. He told me the scan can be sent anywhere it needs to, after 1 month of chasing the business up to send my xray to my new dentist who will do the job for me they finally did but my dentist wasn’t able to open the link they sent Thanks for screwing me around.

Fantastic experience: Hannah at Smile Street Dental at Murwillumbah is awesome. Very thorough and gentle and goes out of her way to address my sensitive teeth from the water spray. She has given me great advice over the years and certainly great treatment. All staff and surroundings and decore are welcoming and professsional. I was particularly impressed on my first visit ( a few years ago now ) that they had additional fancy new equipment - not sure if it was an x ray machine or a CT type machine that took thorough initial shots of the teeth. I had not seen a machine like that before at any other dentists. Deftinate 5 stars for Smile Street Dental at Murwillumbah.

Fantastic experience: I have been attending Smile Street for 6 years now since relocating to the Northern area of NSW, I find their practice in Coolangatta provides outstanding dental care and treatment from teeth checking and cleaning, a few Crowns on my molars, as well as other general dental care. All the staff are friendly and very communicative, they have a modern approach to dental care and hygiene that says to me that they are up to date with all issues dealing with teeth. I give them a 10 out of 10 for effort and application.

Fantastic experience: Ramesh is a legend. I had a large chip come off a 20 year old prosthetic. He worked out the best solution and sorted it promptly. Importantly, the colour match of the crown wasn't as good as anticipated. I didn't feel comfortable about contacting Smile Street to voice my concern. Ramesh put me at ease straight away and sorted the issue respectfully and professionally. All of the staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!!

Fantastic experience: Had an emergency broken tooth. Amber did a great job of rebuilding it and smoothing it off. I was happy with it on the outside and inside before I left. I was told to come back if it didn’t feel right. I went back the next day to get it filed down a bit more. The male dentist did this free of charge. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
